I shall outline this idea I recently started to formulate. That is, if there are prostitutes in the world, I am saying if their existence is taken as granted, it is almost only moral to sleep with them. I should elaborate on my conclusion a little more before I even indulge in laying out my analysis. Sleeping with prosistitutes is not the only moral thing to do in my opinion, but considering the difficulty and costs of its alternatives, this seems to be the only sound short-term solution to the problem. Now I can begin to establish my reasoning process.
I heartily believe that problems happen for a reason. In other words, there is always one or a set of causes or conditions to be met for a certain problem to arise and remain alive. I will expand this at some other time.

Conventions usually do not survive well the scrutiny of a rational mind despite their popularity among laymen. Nurtured by the indolence and comformity of many, conventions are rarely challenged, but rather hard-wired into those innocent unscrupulous minds by their similarly brainwashed parents. The danger of such process manifests itself through the establishment of a value system founded on these questionable ideas. Its imminent threat though is greatly intensified when people refuse to face the fact that many of such conventions are fundamentally flawed. For these people are not courageous enough to overthrow their entire belief system to embrace the truth. Sadly, they are the majority and can easily find refuge among their fellow ignorant minds. Yes, in such democratic society, the principle of majority rules is proven to be the evil fruit of Eden, for the true believers put so much faith in such belief that they are no longer willing to apply any other principles in other aspects of life. Unfortunately, history has made it clear that the majority are not always right in many issues. The numerous accounts of clashes between science and conventions may not fully convince you here, but the majority's view of racism in the U.S. 200 years ago may lead you to cast doubts on the authority of the majority. The Supreme Court is entitled to make unpopular decisions for similar reasons--No, the majority is not always right! Not to my or your surprise, common minds don't share the same way of thinking. When the critical mass is reached for any idea, however ridiculous it is, it can easily milk itself to feed its followers and enjoy longevity that rational minds often times find hard to imagine! Frustration falls short to describe my feeling toward this propoerty of society--yes, I can confidently boast this is a common property that any society would have. At times, I am convinced that I shall not have anything to do with other's ignorance, for that is none of my business. But Zarathurstra has made it clear that the sun is praised for its generosity of spreading its best to all, regardless of gender, class, race or any man-made subdivision of the human race. While seeking such praise is completely ludicrous in my mind, I cannot resist the thought of letting the right ideas flourish wherever people live. We're fretted by too many things, first of which is our desire for food and sex. I hope, yes, that's the least I can do, that at the end of the day, after mourning for the human limitations of our existence, we can have something to cherish, to consolate ourselves with and to be proud of.

I am perplexed by the fact that Google doesn't cover my page. Well, it's kind of alright. I'd like to keep this private anyways. Last night, I went to dinner with Laurie, Joe and this new guy Vance. It's the first day of Chinese New Year and this is the year of Monkey! Laurie was just sooooooo nice. She gave a red envelope--the only one I received this year. We chatted, laughed and had a great time together. Not sure if she shares my view, but I surely hope so. Anyways, I then walked her home. It turned out that she lives mightily near be at 14th and N. I think I should take her out this weekend. Cuz if not now, then when? mm.. I don't have many great date ideas. Maybe I will take her to a concert or a show or some such... oh it makes me ill looking back this post. Guess I do like that girl!

Dan is kickin' my bu*t in the stock competition. His strategy is rather good: Buy cheap risky stocks. It's virtual money anyways and we should not be afraid of losing. But then if you take a step back, we use this venue to learn about the market and to become more knowledgeable of trading. Perhaps it's best to trade the way one would with real money. I do know cases where people do better with penny stocks, just look at Dan Wallach.

Allan Shore's friend came to the office and asked for help. His wife committed adultary with her colleague and Allan's friend was immensely hurt for her disloyalty. A divorce seems in order although giving up $7 million, or half of his wealth, to such a woman seems ludicrous at the time. Allan's friend provided him with information of where and when his wife sees her lover. Allan, in his usual way of handling such things and feuled by his anger toward this woman, teamed up with Tara and went to that hotel room before that woman met her lover and planted bugs as well as video cameras. Well, every one was pretty disgusted by Allan's acts, including himself. But it was effective and in my view gave that woman what she deserved. Tara had another chance to see how Allan really is like and couldn't resist his charms. While I thought Bobby bore an astounding assemblance to me in terms of his world views, Allan strikes me as exactly what Bobby would turn into if he could be honest to himself and be purely rational. When we subject ourselves to the law, to the conventions, to moral standards, we fall victim to many irrationalities. And only when we decided to break away, to take the law, or justice to our own discretion, can we prevail the standards, the way of life and the existentiality of being. But wait, that's in fact pure idealism, for the clash between the ubiquitous social prejudice and institutions, coupled with conservatism and ignorance, and such audacious quest results only in absolute misery.
How so? you must ask. Well, let's examine the two sides more carefully here. The ignorant and conservative are blessed with the majority and can and will reinforce themselves through public media. The liberal, however couragous they are, find themselves in such an awkward position, where their couscience tells them what's right and what they ought to do, whereas life sets strict boundaries to what they can achieve and what they are put up with from day-to-day life. Yes, that is, they cannot remove themselves from the surrounding conservative minds and, by definition, the liberals are the ones always quetioning their belief system and struggling to influence others with what they think is right. Of course we're not concerned with those that remove themselves from society and keep their own thoughts and ideas to themselves. For what is the true relevance of them anyways? Now we look back to evaluate Allan Shore. In my view, he's the one who knows what's right and what's wrong. Frustrated by the reality, he employs desperate measures and extreme punishments however he likes. In his world, similar to Bobby's, the results mean a whole world more than the means. Yes, if the dirty ways work, so be it! While Bobby sets clear boundaries to his acts, namely, within the boundaries of the law, stretched in some cases, Allan has only comtempt for all existing rules and is not timid to break them whenever needed. Here comes in the 1st clash. If he goes too far, the existing rule, the law, can and will penalize him. With his hands tied, he finds leeways of the law to implement his plans and uses the weakness of the human race as the perfect protection. He feels disgusted though, for it is the dark side of the system, which he's trying to overthrow, that provides the very safety he can operate under. In addition, the mere appearance of his acts purchased him the hatred of those who deem themselves as righteous and instead of celebrating Allan's success, they categorize him as one of those crooks who contaminate the world. Not liked by both worlds, that is, the dark world hates what he is fighting for and the bright world hates how he is fighting, Allan is lost in such struggles and is constantly questioning his existence. One is not powerful enough to change the whole world and yet he is always told as well as passionately felt from within that it is his responsibility to bring dawn to the human race. We shall see how D.E.K. is playing this out in future episodes. And before this post runs out of control, let me wrap it up here with one last word. We give in our individual rights to form a society and is given back partial rights as a reward. Do not fantasize for absolute freedom, for that's what we and our ancestors have fought to prohibit.

It needs no further explanation if you also watch the show. Yes, The Practice is the only show on TV that's worth your time glueing yourself to your couch on Sunday evenings. I don't care how much other people like Sex and the City and other cheesy comedies. The Practice is the real stuff! Starting this week, I will write a TV review on every Monday, not just to summarize the synopsis of each episode, but also to document my reactions. There is usually more to the show than what D.E.K. is trying to express. Yes, it is what I get out of the show, regardless of whether it's put in there or even present in the show, that is more impotant and meaningful to me.

Dr. Martin Luther King's day. I'm hiding in my office again, listening to Nirvana. There's no single soul around me. And I'm turning the volume of my speakers to its max, playing About a Girl, singing along it. Oh maybe I should just go turn off the light and fill the abient with Kirk Kobain's and my own cry!

This site has undergone a few major changes. First, the background color was changed to slategray from pure white. It looked rather blend before. Second, I finally decided to put my email address here at the risk of clogging my inbox with spam emails. Since it will take forever to implent a comment feature and to be frank I don't even know if that's a good idea to begin with, I guess an email address will suffice here. For I just don't want to remain oblivious to comments and criticisms that people may have when they stumble on my site and decide to take a look inside. So visitors--the existence of whom is still highly questionable--should feel free to click "Email Me" and leave me a note.

Let's see what else is new... I was going to help Laurie to move, but she failed to call me. I don't know what kind of message she's trying to deliver to me. In fact, there's not much left for me to continue guessing. I will simply ask her out next week and see how she reacts. I will hope for the best, but am ready to accept defeat.

J.P. Morgan and Bank One announced a $58b merge today. Bank One's CEO Jaime Dimon will take over as the CEO of the merged Bank in 2006. He's currently 47 years old and will be at most 50 by the time he becomes the CEO of the 2nd largest bank in the U.S. Wonder when I will make my first pot of gold and get on with my career.

From NYT: Cellphones are a paradox of the modern era: the Mars rover may be able to send home color pictures from 35 million miles away, but just try to make a cellular call from Temple Sinai, a synagogue in the middle of New Orleans. You might have better luck on Mars.

Scarlett Johansson was on Jay Leno and she was just absolutely beautiful. It was a little disappointing to hear her talk though. Granted, she's only 19 years old and, despite her success, is not very mature yet. I hope she'll spend some time studying, thinking and will not become another Paris Hilton. Anyways, here's a nice article on her.

mmm.. Looks like other people's blogs are much nicer. And I'll need to implement comments feature. The CD is now playing the last track Where did you sleep last night?

What's that song playing now? Oh, it's Polly from Nirvana's CD Unplugged in New York. It's 4 of 5 on a Monday afternoon. Shendovski wants to become a blogger for two reasons. First, it's jealousy. (Ha! No surprise.) So many of his friends have nice blogs and he wants one too! mm.. He knows it's no goood to be jealous, but still struggled to find it an economic rationale--Competition is always good and jealousy drives competititon. Second, ahhh, life is filled with little things here and there. When he looks back, Shendovski always celebrates those little things as the most beautiful parts of life. His memory though conveniently robs him of many such beautiful things and moments. Thus, he records his chaotic mind here so that his memory can no longer comprise any possible happiness in his life.
